Safety and Health Risk Management Student Name Instructor MOS 5301 Fire Protection Technology Columbia Southern University Risk management is very important for reducing hazards in working environments. The formalized management approach is a step by step process that includes the risk assessment, execution of controls and steps for coping with hazards. These aspects of risk mitigation are executed in iterative steps (Poplin et Al, 2015). The regulatory structure for the risk mitigation process should be compliance-based. This structure gives more benefits as compared to the approach that used risk-based systematic methodologies. Fire fighting and safety is a very dangerous profession that has in many occasions resulted in fatalities, illnesses and very serious injuries. It is one of the mots hazardous occupations thus the need for utmost care and high level safety for the officers involved in saving lives. The implementation of the RM programs has the high potential of improving the safety of the fire fighters and so their health. The main point of the author is that fire fighting profession is very dangerous thus the need to protect the safety and health of the individuals tasked with this responsibility (Poplin et Al, 2015). The author suggest that the best approach to use in ensuring safety of the fire fighting personnel is the RM program because of its effectiveness in ensuring safety. The intended audience for this article is the decision-makers in fire fighting who are also the implementers of safety programs. The specific issue addressed in this article is the importance of decision-making on the safety of the fire fighters. The information in this article is very applicable in this course. It is about the safety programs to mitigate hazards and to prevent casualties in the fire fighting team.
